Coaching Philosophy

Lynn coaches busy professionals who want to pursue enriching careers, make a positive difference in the world, and live congruent, meaningful lives. Her approach is based on solution-focused coaching, drawn from the work of Milton Erickson, MD, and Marilyn Atkinson, PhD, founder of Erickson College. The essence of Ericksonian coaching is about honouring each person as the ‘expert’ on her/his own life, and therefore creating the opportunities for people to generate their own solutions. Through deep listening, powerful questioning and an ‘advice-free zone’, clients are easily able to access their natural resourcefulness and motivation. Married to a physician and part of a social network of health care professionals, Lynn has an appreciation for the challenges and opportunities faced by clinicians and researchers as they negotiate demanding careers, collaboration with colleagues, and various life choices. With a substantial background in adult learning theory, she flexibly supports clients to take whatever challenges come their way and to turn them into powerful, ‘growthful’ experiences, dissolve stress and strain, and experience deep satisfaction in their professional and personal lives.
