2022 Faculty of Medicine Distinguished Researcher Award Recipient: Dr. Megan Levings

A world-renowned leader in the field of human Treg cell biology and a professor in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Megan Levings has been recognized for her distinguished research career, contributions to trainee educational growth, and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
In addition to her impactful research in human immunology, Dr. Levings has led a number of research initiatives. Presently she leads the Childhood Diseases Theme at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, aiming to advance pediatric research, including programs in diabetes, cancer, and rare and immunological diseases. Dr. Levings chaired the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS) Centres of Excellence. She has served on numerous grant panels and journal editorial boards, mentored many graduate and undergraduate students and has received over $50M in grant funding in her 19 years with UBC.
