Strategic Plan

The Department of Surgery Strategic Plan for 2022-2025 is based on consultation and feedback from a wide cross-section of faculty who participated through surveys, focus groups, and direct communication. As an academic surgical department, there is a clear commitment to clinical excellence, teaching, and research. In addition, the Strategic Plan includes a strong focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion; social responsibility; faculty engagement and support; and partnerships that will foster provincial, national, and global impact. The Department of Surgery is large and diverse, with incredible potential for improving health outcomes across all domains.

•  Propose specific changes to existing departmental systems to more effectively foster and recognize a culture of contribution and psychological safety.
• Identify feedback mechanisms required to hold the department accountable to its core values of excellence, equity, and reconciliation
