29th Chung Research Day – November 6, 2023

The 29th Chung Research Day was an inspiring celebration of innovation and research excellence in the Department of Surgery. This year, our event took place on November 6, 2023, in a hybrid format combining in-person and virtual participation.

This year’s Chung Lecturer was Dr. Jodi Sherman, known for her contributions to the field of sustainability in clinical care. She also serves as the Director of the Yale Program on Healthcare Environmental Sustainability and is the Medical Director of the Yale New Haven Health System Centre for Sustainable Healthcare. Finally, together with Dr. Andrea MacNeill from the Division of General Surgery, Dr. Sherman co-chairs the Lancet Commission on Sustainable Healthcare. Dr. Sherman gave a talk titled Healthcare and Its Pollution: Balancing Patient Safety and Public Health.
