Bio

Dr. Philip​ Dawe is currently an Acute Care and Trauma Surgeon at VGH and serves as the Medical Director for the Canadian Forces Trauma Training Centre (West) and is a Clinical Associate Professor at UBC.​

Dr. Dawe graduated from the Royal Roads Military College and Royal Military College of Canada in 1994 with a Bachelor’s in Engineering and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. He served in several roles with the PPCLI including three overseas tours in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. He subsequently completed Medical School and Family Medicine training at the University of Manitoba. After two years as a military GP, he began his General Surgical residency at the University of Manitoba. After one year in practice as a community general surgeon in the Winnipeg area, Dr. Dawe completed a one-year Trauma and Acute Care Surgery fellowship at VGH. Since the completion of his fellowship, he has been deployed to Iraq and Western Africa. He has also completed a Leadership in Surgical Simulation Fellowship at CESEI in Vancouver.
