On Thursday, June 22, 2017, Eleni Tsakumis was presented with the Dorken Award for Excellence in Service.
This is awarded annually to a UBC Department of Surgery staff member in recognition of their outstanding and high quality contributions to the department; improving the value, efficiency and sustainability of the service they provide; consistently demonstrating the Faculty of Medicine values of Excellence, Mutual Respect, Caring, and Integrity; and making a positive impact on the morale of the Department of Surgery.
Eleni Tsakumis is the Manager of the General Surgery Program. This award recognizes her outstanding contributions to the General Surgery Residency Program which is has distributed sites across the entire province of BC. Her experience has been extremely valuable in supporting multiple stakeholders and meeting a range of service requirements. Eleni has been an outstanding contributor to the Department for a number of years now and had a positive impact, particularly within her own administrative team. She also goes above and beyond to assist those around her and consistently shown leadership when it has been needed.
