UBC General Surgery Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee

The UBC Division of General Surgery is committed to promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB) within the division. The EDIB Committee was established to promote these values and ensure equal access and opportunities among its members.

The EDI Committee’s role is to:

1. Collect data on relevant parameters and report to division members
2. Promote policies and behaviours that encourage EDIB
3. Raise awareness of EDI-related issues and promote education among faculty and within the residency program
4. Provide support and advocacy for faculty/residents with EDIB-related concerns
5. Collaborate with the Cultural Safety Committee to create programs and gather relevant resources
