Dr. Robert Olson Recognized for Advancing Rural Clinical Trials and Medical Research

Dr. Robert Olson, a Professor and head of the Division of Radiation Oncology at UBC’s Department of Surgery, has been awarded the 2024 Leadership & Advocacy Award by Clinical Trials BC, part of Michael Smith Health Research BC in recognition of his unwavering commitment to advancing clinical trials, particularly in rural and remote regions.

A Prince George resident himself, Dr. Olson has spearheaded numerous clinical trials that have revolutionized medical practices. His relentless advocacy has been pivotal in enhancing clinical trial infrastructure in northern BC, marking a significant milestone by initiating some of the first trials in this area. His efforts ensure that people living in these underserved communities have access to cutting-edge medical research and treatments.
