has won the Norman Wong Prize for the best oral presentation at the recent UBC Experimental Medicine Research Day.
Kate described her work showing how cells called Tregs (which normally function to protect us against inappropriate T cell activation) contributes to scleroderma. The other side of a double edged scalpel.
Soroush Shakibakho (supervisor Dr. Alice Mui, General Surgery)
has won the runner-up prize at Experimental Medicine Research Day
for his presentation on his discovery that a drug discovered in the laboratory (and which is now in phase II clinical trials in inflammatory diseases humans) works by retracting a transcription factor called STAT3.
