Dr. Francis Lynn, (General Surgery) has received the 2016 Faculty of Medicine Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Basic Science. This award recognizes very significant contributions to research in the Faculty of Medicine by a young investigator. Research in the Lynn lab is targeted at understanding the insulin-producing pancreatic β-cell, how it fails during diabetes mellitus and how we can make surrogate cells to cure diabetes.
