    This research uses animal models to study gene delivery to respiratory and gastrointestinal epithelium in utero.
    This research has potential clinical application to those monogenic metabolic disorders (such as cystic fibrosis) that are amenable to prenatal diagnosis
  • Neonatal surgical outcomes research. In conjunction with the Centre for Applied Health Research and Evaluation, Child and Family Research Institute, Dr Skarsgard has developed a CIHR-funded, Canada-wide pediatric surgical network (CAPSNET) to study fetal diagnosis, treatment and outcome of babies with gastroschisis and congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
